Scripture for the Hard Season of Marriage
Written by the Scripture Nook team · February 5, 2026
"Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins."
Every long marriage has a season where the romance quiets and the work shows. This is not failure. This is the floor of the house being built. The Bible's picture of love, patient, kind, not easily angered, keeping no record of wrongs, is a description of choice, not feeling.
1 Peter 4:8 is striking. Love covers. Not erases, not excuses, covers. Like a hand placed gently over a wound while it heals. In marriage, that means returning to the same person again and again, choosing tenderness on a day they did not earn it, the same way Christ chose us.
If your marriage is in a hard season, do one small thing this week that you have not done in a while. Pray for your spouse by name. Out loud. Let the Word do the slow work of softening what has gone hard.
A Prayer
Lord, You are the keeper of covenants. Help me love my spouse the way You love me, patiently, faithfully, without scorekeeping. Cover what is wounded in us with Your grace, and teach us how to come home to each other again. Amen.
