Scripture for When You've Run Out of Patience
Written by the Scripture Nook team · April 30, 2026
"Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love."
Patience is one of those virtues we admire in others and resent being asked to practice ourselves. The Bible calls it a fruit of the Spirit, which means it is grown, not bought. Fruit takes a season. So does this.
Ephesians 4:2 ties patience to humility and gentleness, not to clenched teeth. The patient person in Scripture is not the one who suppresses frustration. It is the one who has learned to see the other person, the slow toddler, the difficult coworker, the aging parent, the way God has seen them all along.
If your patience is gone today, you do not need to manufacture more. Ask for it. The same Spirit who is patient with you is willing to lend you some of His. Bear with the person in front of you the way Christ has borne with you.
A Prayer
Father, I am out of patience and short on grace. Give me what I do not have. Help me see the people in front of me the way You see me, with kindness that has not run out. Amen.
