Scripture for a Peace That Does Not Make Sense
Written by the Scripture Nook team · April 23, 2026
"Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid."
The world's peace is conditional. It depends on the bank account, the diagnosis, the relationship, the news cycle. Christ's peace does not. He gave it to His disciples on the night before He was arrested, peace handed out, on purpose, in the middle of the worst possible week.
John 14:27 makes a clear distinction. Not as the world gives. The world's peace runs out when the circumstances change. His does not. It is a peace built on a person, not a situation.
If your circumstances are not peaceful today, you can still have peace. Not because you are pretending things are fine, but because the One who walked with His disciples is walking with you. Practice His presence. The peace, often, follows.
A Prayer
Jesus, the world cannot give me what I need today. You can. Give me Your peace, the kind that does not depend on anything changing. Steady my heart, and remind me You have not gone anywhere. Amen.
